The Hare and Hounds pub in Ramsgate is still open for business despite a car crashing into the property in the early hours of this morning (November 26).

Fire crews had to cut a man free from his car following the incident at the Margate Road/Northwood Road junction at 2.24am.

Crews worked with paramedics to free the driver of the car and also assessed the structure of the building for safety purposes.

Pub bosses say structural engineers have declared the building safe and the back bar in the boozer is open for business as usual.

A pub spokesman said: “No staff or customers were involved. The pub is to remain open as it has been cleared by structural engineers.”

The  injured driver was transferred to an ambulance and taken to hospital.

A statement from Kent Police is expected later today.
