Eighty people put on their trainers and grasped their glow sticks today (November 12) in a bid to raise cash for two charities.
A two-hour clubberthon was held at St George’s school in Broadstairs to raise cash for The Brain Tumour Charity and Tiny Toes, which supports the special care baby unit at QEQM Hospital in Margate.
The event was organised by Manston mum-of-one and fitness instructor Naomi Wright.
Naomi, 34, runs Fitness with Naomi, holding classes in Clubbercise and Kettlercise at Manston Social Club and St George’s school.
The popular Clubbercise sessions are fun, easy-to-follow dance fitness routines using rave glow sticks to club anthems from 90′s classics to the latest chart hits, taught in a darkened room with disco lights,
Today’s session raised £1,300 – with donations still coming in – to be split between the two causes.
Naomi, who also runs Ramsgate’s seafront Coffee Shack with husband Gaz and ‘helper’ baby Florence, said: “These two charities were chosen as one of my client’s husband is currently receiving treatment for a brain tumour, so I wanted to support a charity that’s helped support their family.
“Tiny Toes was chosen as I’ve recently had a baby of my own and realise how terrible it must be to have a baby needing special care.
“We also held a cake sale for Help for Heroes as it is Remembrance Sunday, raising £50. It was a very successful day all round.”

The charities
Tiny Toes
A new charitable appeal to support the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
Donations help the appeal to provide extra support with patient care and other services, state of the art equipment or additional equipment not available through NHS funding and create the best possible environment for patients, parents, staff and visitors.
Each unit has a separate charitable fund.
The Brain Tumour Charity
The charity funds pioneering research to find new treatments, improve understanding, increase survival rates and bring us closer to a cure. It raises awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours, to reduce diagnosis times and make a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families.
The organisation also provides support and information for anyone affected by the condition.
