The annual pancake race will be taking place in Westgate next month – and the call has gone out for teams and community groups to take part.

Competitors will flip their pancakes in the dash along Station Road on Shrove Tuesday, which falls on February 13.

Supporters can cheer on the teams at the non-profit event as pancakes are flipped by runners on the closed road.

The event is free and, weather permitting, will take place at 10am with race heats running until 11am.  The event is expected to finish by 11.15am with roads re-opening at noon.

There will be town councillors and staff acting as stewards and a council officer will be the duty events manager.

There will also be a St John’s Ambulance crew on hand to assist with first aid and there are local toilets and refreshments along the route.

If you would like to get involved please contact [email protected] for further details. The closing date to enter teams is February 9.
