Kent’s biggest charity ride is back for its eighth year on Sunday 30 April, offering cyclists of all abilities a chance to ride one of the three distances and raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices.
University of Kent, Canterbury is hosting the event village from their latest university initiative the ‘Cycle Hub’, which promotes cycling on campus.
Cyclists can meet up for registration at the hub and enjoy trade stands such as Dr. Bike mechanics, sports massage and local interest cycling groups during the day. There will be hot food and drinks available for supporters and returning cyclists. As well as safe, free parking across the campus.
Robert Grew, Pilgrims Hospices events organiser said: “This year the popular ride routes have been tweaked to make the event even more enjoyable. For those looking to take their ride up a gear, Pilgrims has introduced a few extra challenges along the way, you can check out the ride details at www.Pilgrimscyclechallenge.org.
“Explore the landscape of east Kent like never before, all the time knowing that, with every pedal, you’re making a huge difference to the lives of people who are living with a life-limiting illness.”
There are regular free food stops and volunteers and staff work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this one of the best organised rides in Kent. Marshals cheer you on, keep you safe and give roadside help if you need it.
Training rides before the big day make it possible for everyone to take part too: from the total novice, to younger families or the pro who wants to better their time over distance.

The Pilgrims Cycle Challenge attracts over 1,200 riders every year. You can ride it your way by choosing one of three ride distances: The Classic – 45 miles, The Challenge – 75 miles, The Century – 100 miles.
Last year’s cycle raised an incredible £93,00, that enough to pay for more than 4,650 hours of nursing care!
