Generator room alarm at Westwood Sainsbury’s causes shoppers to be evacuated

Shoppers were evacuated from Sainsbury’s at Westwood this morning but there was not a fire.

The alarm sounded at around 10.30am today an evacuation procedures were put in place.

Kent Fire and Rescue has confirmed it was called at 10.30am to a report  of a fire alarm in a generator room at the store.

A spokesman said: “There were no signs of fire and the incident was closed.”

The store is now open as normal.

The incident was not at Westwood Cross shopping centre which has had no evacuation this morning.
