Pop up theatre is coming to Margate

A pop-up theatre that arrives as a flat pack kit in a lorry is in Margate.

The Roundabout theatre is central to the four-day Roundabout festival which features a full programme of plays and live comedy.

Roundabout combines comfortable seating with cutting edge sound and lighting technology to create an unmissable theatrical experience.

Bookish is a selection of five original comedy shows, each inspired by a very different book.  audiences can vote for which show they would like to see on the day of the performance.

Each show has live music, storytelling, a bit of non-terrifying audience interaction and possibly even props. The books are:

Big Foot – Free workshop for male residents in Thanet

Led by Annie Sutton

Big Foot by Joseph Barnes Philips is based on his own and imagined story of becoming a man – coming to Theatre Royal Margate on October 12. This is a chance to share your own teenage footsteps using story telling and rhyme.

A Glimpse of Inspiration

Inspiration Inclusive Youth Theatre

Inspiration Inclusive Youth Theatre brings together children with and without disabilities to work together on art projects including BSL. The BBC’s Children in Need Charity fund the project, helping it reach many children within the local community.

Looping the Loop

Come and join an adventure in performance, as new shows and ideas are presented in front of your eyes. Forget stuffy sitting back and watching, this is no one-way conversation – it’s Made in Thanet! With some of Looping the Loop’s best performance-makers taking part, the Scratch events always bring out some priceless and mind-boggling gems, and there’s a chance to talk afterwards with all the artists about the ideas.

Get involved

Looping The Loop is inviting performers, makers and entertainers to perform extracts of work in progress to a public audience at Scratch-A-Round as part of Theatre Royal Margate’s Roundabout Festival.

Proposals are welcome from artists/performers and companies across all art forms including music, dance, theatre and cabaret. The work can be at any stage of development – the only stipulation is that it is presently untested. Deadline: 5th September, 5pm

Successful candidates will benefit from directorial, production and technical support from the Looping the Loop team towards a 15 minutes scratch presentation.
Rehearsals: Friday, September 22 (times TBC) and Saturday, September 23, 10am – Noon
Show + Q&A: Sunday, September 24, 5.30pm – 7pm
Looping the Loop produces two festival seasons a year that bring several Battersea Arts Centre (London) productions to Thanet.
