Emergency services have been called  after a 13 year old boy was hit by a car in Margate.

Police and ambulance were called to Ramsgate Road, at the Victoria lights, at around 4.05pm.

The road was shut with motorists being diverted up Perkins Avenue. The air ambulance is also reported to have been at the scene.

One witness described how they had beeped to try and stop the boy going into the road but had been unable to catch his attention.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “A pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car in Ramsgate Road at the junction with Nash Court Road at 4.05pm. The pedestrian, a 13-year-old boy, is reported to have sustained a leg injury and is being treated by paramedics.

“The road was closed but was re-opened at 5.20pm.”
