Ellington infant pupils aim to break a World Record and raise cash for Monkton Nature Reserve

Ellington pupils want to be World Record breakers and raise cash for Monkton Nature Reserve

Pupils and staff from Ellington Infant School in Ramsgate are taking part in a walk  they hope will break a Guinness World Record and raise funds for a popular nature reserve.

Hundreds of schools up and down the country are taking part in the mass sponsored event Walk 4 Wildlife, to raise money for wildlife protection and conservation.

Walk 4 Wildlife is a huge collaboration between hundreds of wildlife charities and other organisations, all of whom will be working together to get as many schools as possible to join in and hold their own sponsored event.

Ellington Infant School will be raising funds for Monkton Nature Reserve.  Sponsorship forms have not been sent out instead, on the day, there will be collection buckets for donations.

The walk is being held at Ellington Park, starting at the bandstand at 2pm, and parents and families have been invited to join the children.  It coincides with an environmental study project the children are currently looking at, and the school are very excited to be raising funds.

Organised by Chloe Ralph-Harding, reception teacher and P.E and outside learning co-ordinator at the school, they also hope to help set the new World Record, for the most people walking at the same time in an organised event.

All 240 pupils will be taking part plus school staff and parents.

Chloe  said;” It is of vital importance to protect our wildlife and I think that this walk will be a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to be part of the Guinness Book of Records.”
