Coastbound Thanet Way closure due to five car crash

Emergency services

Emergency services are at the scene of two crashes – one involving five cars – on the Thanet Way.

Kent Police was called at 5.03pm today (December 26) initially to a single vehicle collision on the coastbound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way just before Whitstable. The collision involved a Peugeot 106. The driver sustained minor injuries and police set up a rolling road block while the vehicle was recovered.

While the rolling road block was in place a second collision occurred at 5.24pm. This involved five cars: a Ford Galaxy, a Peugeot 207, a Ford Fiesta, a VW Passat and a VW Golf.

Police have closed the coastbound carriageway while they deal with the incident and drivers are advised to find alternate routes. SECAmb are also on scene.

The closure is expected to remain in place until at least 8.30pm.
