Cliffs Cafe and Ramsgate Micro Museum team up for retro gaming events

Cliffs Cafe in Cliftonville and Ramsgate’s Micro Museum have teamed up for the first of a series of monthly retro videogaming social evenings.

The café, which is also a record shop, yoga studio, hair salon and coffee roaster with community space in the basement, will be transformed into a vintage videogaming emporium on September 13.

The event, which runs from 7pm to 11pm, is £5 entry with all games free-to-play. There will also be a fully licensed bar.

Nick Thompson, who is part of the volunteer team at The Micro Museum and will be the Gamesmaster for the evenings, said: “We’ll be firing up a batch of retro-gaming gems for you to play in our pop-up gaming lounge and getting head-to-head at the micro bar.  We will have a 20ft projection screen to help you get your geek-on for classics from the 1980s and 1990s  – the golden age of gaming.

“Among the games available will be Pacman, Final Fight, Point Blank, Tempest, Sensible Soccer, Parappa the Rapper and GoldenEye 007 with some special surprises on the night.

“We are even prepared in case there is a power cut with a board game version of Donkey Kong!”

Cliffs Café is at 172 Northdown Road, Cliftonville.

The Micro Museum is based at 11 Church Hill, Ramsgate
