Hayes won the toss and elected to bat on one of the best wickets in the Kent league this year. Luke Palmer getting the first wicket with just 3 runs on the board, well caught by Tom Marshall. Palmer then got his second, a team effort with Bradley Ellison deflecting it from gully to Brian Simpson at point and Hayes were 31-2.
Bradley Ellison was bowling tightly the other end, his 11 over spell only lacked wickets as he conceded 11 runs. Farjad Yasir and Archie Ralph-Harding were brought into the attack, Yasir removing the bails to dismiss Bamber, Ralph-Harding also picking up 2 wickets in his pacey spell.
Young leg spinner George Kidd whirled his web of mystery in a nice 10 over spell, picking up 2 wickets with 2 drop catches. Oli Frewin also claimed 2 wickets toward the end of the innings but Hayes had amassed 210 from their 50 overs.
Broadstairs in reply found the early movement of the new ball difficult to deal with, and collapsed to 21-3, Brian Simpson, Luke Palmer and Oli Frewin the victims of some decent bowling. Ralph-Harding and Yasir batted sensible until Yasir was bowled for 17, quickly followed by his partner also for 17.
This brought father and son, Andy and Josh Marshall to the crease and they put on a stand of 46. Josh batting superbly for 20 from 51 deliveries, Marshall fell for 25, dubiously caught at cover, the ball appearing to hit the ground before the fielder scooped it up, but the umpire went with the fielding side and Marshall was on his way back.
George Kidd joined Bradley Ellison and with the opposition trying to get into the youngsters mind he concentrated on not giving his wicket away ending up unbeaten for 7 form 33 deliveries. Ellison decided to take on bowling attack and found a few boundaries. However he played 1 shot too many and fell to Robertson for 25.
Hayes then brought back their opening bowlers, Tom Marshall gloving to slip with the extra pace and bounce for 2 and Ashley Ellison losing his off stump for 1, Broadstairs mustered 138 from 43 overs.
They finish the season in 5th place after setting out to not be relegated at the start of the season and to have an outside chance of promotion at one point it has been a successful season, with the emergence of George Kidd, Tom Marshall, Archie Ralph-Harding coming through and improving.
