Botany Bay stars on the pages of Harper’s Bazaar magazine

Iconic Botany Bay in Broadstairs has featured in the March edition of Harper’s Bazaar magazine thanks to the work of Thanet District Council’s film and locations team.

A magazine crew of six, featuring fashion photographer Erik Madigan Heck and stylist Leith Clark, visited the popular bay in November 2016 to take a series of photos which fill 18 pages in the world-wide distributed magazine.

Featuring an array of evening gowns by renowned designers, including Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton, the shoot was modelled by Madison Stubbington.

Award winning photographer, Erik Madigan Heck, described the shoot as: “following Madison Stubbington through a romantic story of being washed ashore, based on Alexander McQueen’s summer 2017 collection”.

This fashion shoot is just one of several visits that have already taken place this year from photographers and film crews, helped by the council. Working with the crews, TDC’s communications team provides the relevant permissions and offers production companies’ local knowledge to help them find the perfect location to meet their briefs.

Cllr Derek Crow-Brown, Cabinet Member for Corporate Governance Services, said: “The photos in this shoot are simply breathtaking.

“You could be transported anywhere in the world looking at them, but to be told they were taken at Botany Bay is just incredible. We are all immensely proud of Thanet’s coastline and to see it showcased internationally is the icing on the cake.”
