Big plans for Margate FC start with new 3G pitch at Hartsdown Park

New Margate FC bosses say the new pitch is just the start

Margate Football Club will have a new full size 3G pitch installed at Hartsdown Park this summer ahead of the 2017/18 Isthmian Premier League season

Work will begin  on June 1.

S & C Slatter has been contracted to carry out the installation, which is expected to take between 8-10 weeks. The company has installed similar pitches at Maidstone United, Eastbourne Borough and Sutton United.

The decision was made by the new owners to install an all-weather pitch as part of their plans to improve facilities at Hartsdown Park. The club will also hire out the facility for up to 50 hours a week to help it grow financially.

Margate Chairman Alistair Bayliss acknowledges just how big this news is for the club.

He said: “This is a massive commitment from the new owners that have demonstrated in their first few weeks in charge that they are serious about moving this club forward as a project.

“The installation of a new 3G surface will be the start of this club growing in stature both in football terms, financially and the local community.

“Without going into too much detail, this is just the first part of the plans. It is a hugely exciting time for the club and more importantly, the local area. I genuinely now hope people will realise how important this club will be to the community and get involved”.

“These types of pitches are becoming more familiar at this level and I think for clubs looking to grow this is the type of model that will become even more popular”.
