The Army bomb disposal unit has carried out yet another controlled explosion at Pegwell Bay Country Park.

The operation is the fourth in as many weeks.

On June 29 a controlled explosion was carried out by the Royal Logistics Corp Explosive Ordnance Device team from Folkestone.

They dealt with the wartime bomb which had been dug up during an excavation by power cable workers.

A spokesman for the MoD said: “It was a routine disposal of conventional World War Two munitions.

Further explosions were carried out the following day and the team was back on July 2, in the area across from the former Sportsman pub, to carry out two more controlled explosions.

Another took place on July 6 at around 5pm.

The latest explosion was carried out today at 10.20am. The team were also on site yesterday (July 13) with ‘crawlers’ to detect the munitions.
