A second man accused of Cliftonville murder has appeared in court

A second defendant charged with murdering a man in Cliftonville has appeared in court.

Klaudijus Klimanskis, 41, of Athelstan Road was yesterday (June 7) charged with the murder of 38-year-old Edvardas Barscevicius.

He  appeared at Canterbury Magistrates’ Court  today (July 8) and has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 10 July

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have also charged Mr Klimanskis with assault on another man, also living in Margate, in connection with the incident.

These charges relate to the discovery of the body of Mr Barscevicius in Ethelbert Terrace on Monday 3 July.

Aurimas Vilius, 24, of Cornwall Gardens has also been charged with murder and assault. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 6 July  and is also due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 10 July.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate continue to carry out enquiries into the death.
