Part of a road in Margate will be shut until November 5 after a ‘sinkhole’ appeared.

Police and Kent Highways were called after the void opened on the side of Millmead Road at the junction with Irvine Drive on Tuesday  (October 31).

The road was closed between that junction and Millmead Avenue and will remain so each day between 9.30am and 3pm while highways workers carry out emergency repairs.

The alternative route is via Laleham Road, Northdown Park Road and Millmead Road.
