A birthday celebration with a twist raised £405 to help children affected by the Manchester bombing last month.

Accident and Emergency staff nurse Shams McArthur celebrated her birthday by running a  ‘tea by the sea’ bash on June 5 at Westbrook beach.

The mum-of-two,  ‘in her 40s’ had a ‘totally shredded’ drum and bass workout, Indian head massage, tea and cakes, reiki, meditation a clairvoyant session, yoga and raffle prizes.

Shams has also set up a justgiving page which has so far boosted to total to £505.

She said: “There are online prizes to be  won, we have a £50  cake voucher, reiki voucher, a night with clairvoyant Jayne Davis for two people, a pamper spa day for two and more. All the proceeds will go to the childrens’ ward at Manchester hospital.”
