A Margate casting session will be held to find a boy to star in a Fox Studios movie

A casting company is holding an open call session in Margate for boys aged 10-12 to take the lead role in a major Fox Studios film.

Des Hamilton Casting says no acting experience is required.

The company which has worked for films including War Machine, starring Brad Pitt, and This is England says the it is looking for a “quirky, working class, Caucasian boy, aged 10-12, preferably small for his age, with a distinctive look.”

The movie will be directed by Taika Waititi, of Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Des Hamilton Casting says it specialises in ‘street casting’ and says some of those discovered by the company include Thomas Turgoose from This is England; Kathleen McDermott from Morvern Calla and ’Luke Fraser in Bullet Boy.

The casting call has been promoted on social media by the Kent Film Office.

The open call is on Sunday, February 18 between noon and 5pm at Jojo’s School of Dancing, Buckingham Studios, Buckingham Road, Margate. There is no need to make an appointment, just turn up.

The session will involve an informal chat on camera. The chosen actor will receive payment for the role.
