Police were called to Northdown Road this afternoon (August 7) to reports of a suspicious package.
An area of the road between Edgar Road and Sweyn Road was closed off as officers attended.
It was confirmed that the package posed no risk.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 1.29pm on Wednesday 7 August to a report of a suspicious package seen in the street in Northdown Road, Cliftonville.
“Officers attended and confirmed the package was not posing any risk to public safety.”
The package was reportedly a metal briefcase full of rubbish.
The road has reopened.
There is plenty of rubbish like this put out from flats in this part of Cliftonville, I am surprised anyone would think it as anything different, well it wasn’t was it?
