St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School pupils take part in ‘Crowning of Mary’ service

Crowning of Mary service at St Joseph's

Pupils at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School took part in a ‘Crowning of Mary’ service on Monday.

The ceremony is when an image or likeness of the Blessed Virgin Mary is ceremonially crowned to signify her as Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God.

Children were invited to bring a flower to school to honour Mary and to decorate the prayer corners.

Flowers were brought in abundance and presented to Our Lady during the service.  The children were also able to bring along their own Rosaries for the celebration.

The service began with the hymn Beautiful World, the children were then led in prayer before Jenson and Zac were invited to crown Our Lady with fresh flowers.

Representatives from each class presented their flowers and then Eva, Rachel and Benjamin from Year 5 were invited to lead “The Decade of the Rosary”.

The service closed with the final hymn ‘Hail Holy Queen’.
