Thanet Disabled Riding Centre, is calling on local people to help them secure £63,880 of National Lottery funding by voting for them in this year’s The People’s Projects.
Thanet Disabled Riding Centre in Broadstairs is one of five groups in ITV Meridian East in the running for a share of almost £250,000 of funding. If successful, the centre will be able to continue to provide riding and therapy sessions to Thanet’s disabled community benefitting them physically, mentally and socially.
The centre also hopes the extra financial security will make it possible to add a new pony to the equine team which would help reduce the long waiting lists and benefit more people.
The centre was founded over 40 years ago by group leader Nora Setterfield MBE, who is now 83, alongside her friend Rowena Young.
During the next few days, Thanet Disabled Riding Centre will showcase its project, Essential Running Costs – Keeping Thanet Disabled Riding Centre Operating on ITV Meridian East at 6pm. To be in with a chance of winning, Thanet Disabled Riding Centre is calling on viewers to support its bid.

The People’s Projects not only delivers vital grants to the heart of UK communities, but also raises awareness of the work of the 95 shortlisted community groups vying for the public vote.
In each region, the three projects with the most public votes will receive grants of up to £70,000. The runner’s up in each region will be offered up to £10,000 towards their project, bringing the total funding up for grabs for communities across the UK to over £4 million.

Since it started in 2005, The People’s Projects has awarded around £45 million to over 1,000 good causes.
