It was a very chilly night at the WW Martin Community Stadium, the early rain and wind had cleared away. The players were warming up ahead of the Kent Senior Cup quarter final for the chance to meet Margate in the Semi Final. Angels management team of Jay Saunders & Lloyd Blackman both former Margate players, and Lloyd former Rams manager will be looking at a chance to defeat now Rams manager Jamie Coyle, also a former Margate player, for the chance of a battle at Harstdown Park.

Rams brought a couple of their out on loan players back due to cup tied and injured players, they also chose to rest their stalwart midfield duo  Jadama & Paxman albeit on the bench.

Rams got us underway attacking the town end after losing the coin toss. Playing against a virtually full-strength Angels side, we would have to see how far the Rams had come and how well positioned they were at this stage of the development.

A very even first 10 mins as both sides sounded each other out, 15th and Angels came alive as Greenidge cut back inside from a well weighted pass and placed the ball in the bottom left corner of Bexon’s net.

Rams were not being out played by any means, they pushed forward down the right, ball laid back to Emptage crossed into the danger zone, up popped Carvalho beating the defender to the ball to level for Rams in 27th.

30th and Angels free kick went wide right, smashed over by Fagg, not one of his best.

35th and Wood beat Emptage to the ball, played in Greenidge for a one on one with an advancing Bexon, who did enough to put him off as his shot drifted wide.

Rams forced into a substitution as Paxman replaced injured Emptage 42nd.

44th Rams free kick played in by Prescott behind the defence and Rowland was first to react and score giving Rams the lead, Rams were on the front foot at the end of the half which had been evenly matched.

Second half and Rams were on an early front foot, it was Angals with the first real effort on goal though as Fagg shot from the edge of the box, forcing Bexon to save.

54th and Angels played a speculative ball forward, picked up by Wood and pulled back to Greenidge who missed. The ball rolled through to Rutherford to smash back across Bexon for an equaliser.

The rain started to fall and the wind picked up as Angals started to increase the pressure, winning a penalty in the 60th min as Takaloo was alleged to have brought down Jack Wood, up stepped Tommy Wood to smash home Angels third.

62nd and another enforced sub as Takaloo was replaced by Robbens for a first team debut, 66th and a magnificent Rams strike from 30 yards as Riley-Snow blazed one into the bottom left corner of Benson’s net to level.

68th and Angels came apart at the back as Osinfolarin closed down the keeper forcing a mistake, the ball played to Rowland to pass home to give Rams the lead.

Rams substitution as Riley-Snow picked up a knock for Cuttress to make a first team debut.

Angels showed their more aggressive side as they tried to force their way back in to the game. With minutes to go Rams were defending stoutly and hitting on the break as we went into time added on Cuttress broke through and earned a late corner. Rams hold out for a classic victory.

Rams prize for this win is a trip across Thanet to arch rivals, Margate in the semi final date to be arranged. Possibly a game Rams could do without as league promotion must be priority at this stage of the season with just 7 league games remaining.
