Thirty-two music artists set to perform at community showcase event in Ramsgate

Watermelon Music and Media and Sleepwell Productions team up for the big gig at the Windmill

A massive 32 music artists will perform at a community event in Ramsgate on Saturday (March 11).

The performances will take place at the Windmill pub in Newington Road and have been organised by Sleepwell Productions – producers of powerful Ramsgate documentary Estate of Mind – and Watermelon Media & Music which gives a platform to local creatives.

The event is split into two parts with under 18s being catered for from 4pm to 9pm with Jamaican food,  entertainment, and music.

From 7pm until 1am the showcase of south east music talent will take place, Headlined by performer MdotR.

Charlie Daniels and Black Rock, of Watermelon Music, and Danny Holloway from Sleepwell Productions

The event is part of a ’12 shows with Sleepwell’ documentary which charts the production and music companies as they host one show every month for a year and a celebration of Watermelon Media/Watermelon Music’s one year of the ‘WM Studio sessions Freestyle’ series on YouTube, hitting over 321,000 views and still growing.

Danny Holloway, from Sleepwell Productions, said: “This is for all the local artists that don’t always get recognition despite all get being so talented.

“The Windmill event is our fourth show and we have already been asked to do shows in London and further afield.

“We are also creating a podcast called “Deep East Talk Show” about mental health and struggles. We have got a “goggle booth” which is a reaction music channel and have a great team behind us.”

Rapper and Watermelon Music and Media CEO Charlie Daniels (Charlie’D) added: “The event has been put together to bring light to a growing music community in the south east of England that is still quite underground. Not many artists make it out of our area and get themselves known. Our combined goal is to push and see the rise of the south east.

“As two separate companies working towards the same goals, we decided instead of arguing and competing with one another, to work together to achieve these targets.”

Show tickets are £10pp, £20 for family ticket (under 18s can attend until 9pm) under 18 £5 and VIP tickets at £50.
