Thanet’s Power of Women Festival is inviting young people aged 16-26 to submit their artworks to feature in a big public art exhibition in the shop windows of Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs throughout March.
The POW Youth Art Trail exhibition runs every year alongside the annual Power of Women Festival that celebrates International Women’s Day on March 8.
Young artists in Thanet aged 16 – 26 years can submit their artworks for consideration. Any fine art medium is accepted, including paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture – however any works requiring electricity, such as films or audible works, can’t be submitted due to practical restrictions. All artworks should respond to the 2023 Festival theme of ‘Joy and Celebration’ and / or championing gender equality.
A selection of works that best fit the themes will be chosen for display by the curation team. The Ramsgate and Margate arms of the trail are being curated by three young people from Broadstairs College who are being mentored by the POW Engagement team, with support from artist and curator Carri Munden.
The Broadstairs arm of the trail will be run in conjunction with POW’s partners at The Zone/ Pavilion Youth Group and will feature the artworks of young people under 16 years old.
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 25th January at 9am. Only one submission per artist will be considered. The trail will open to the public on Wednesday 8th March.
