Ramsgate man charged with shoplifting offences after being stopped for vehicle check

A man has been charged with shoplifting after being caught out during vehicle check by officers in Thanet.

During the early hours of Wednesday 11 January, officers were on patrol in Ramsgate Road, Margate, when they stopped a vehicle.

Checks carried out confirmed that the vehicle owner was suspected to be linked to reports of thefts in Broadstairs and he was arrested.

As part of an investigation into the thefts, Terry Norman, 37 of Denbigh Road, Ramsgate was charged with: stealing clothing from TKMaxx in Westwood on Saturday 24 December 2022, stealing a television worth £159 from Asda in Broadstairs on Thursday 29 December; stealing food items from Tesco on Saturday 17 December; and stealing clothing to the value of £369 from TKMaxx on Wednesday 28 December.

He was conditionally bailed to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 14 February.
