Hole appears in road at Garlinge double roundabout

Kent County Council has received a report of the hole in the road at Garlinge Photo Jemz Dane

Motorists are being advised to approach the double roundabout in Garlinge with caution today (January 11) after receiving a report of a ‘sinkhole.’

The hole has appeared in the area of Maynard Road/Westfield Avenue.

A Kent County Council (KCC) spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of a hole in the road in the Westfield Road and Maynard Avenue area of Garlinge.

“A Highways Steward has been sent to assess the situation and report any action or traffic management required. Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution.”

  1. I cannot believe the number of enormous holes which have opened up in Thanet roads recently. Went away for couple of weeks over Christmas and it’s turned into Swiss cheese. Super damaging for vehicles, potentially fatal for cyclists if they hit one. Haven’t seen any repairs taking place though?

  2. I went to Haywards heath Saturday. If you think the roads around thanet are bad .You have no idea how bad they were in sussex. Pot hole after pot hole all filled with rain water so you don’t know how deep they are. I don’t know what sussex council does with the money they recive but they don’t spend it on tarmac.

  3. I can’t believe that KCC have only closed of a small part of the road ,when l had a look at the sink hole the ground was missing under the road that hasn’t been closed ,
