Ramsgate Home Bargains opening will create ‘upwards of 70 jobs’

Home Bargains

The new Home Bargains in Ramsgate will be recruiting some 70 staff for the opening of the store next March.

The  discount chain was granted planning permission for variation of use at the former Aldi site in Boundary Road in May. The plot had been put on the market for a cost in the region of £2.3million. Aldi opened its new store across the road at the old gas works last December.

Home Bargains say the store will open after a high-quality shop fit out.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “Home Bargains will be opening a new store in Ramsgate in March 2023.

“We are extremely excited to be opening our first store in Ramsgate and having the opportunity to show a whole new community of customers our fantastic product ranges. These will include both a chilled and frozen section and will, of course, be in line with the Home Bargains’ ethos of top brands at bottom prices.

“We will soon be recruiting upwards of 70 roles for the new store. All the new vacancies will be advertised on our website at https://jobs.homebargains.co.uk/.”

In planning documents previously submitted to Thanet council on behalf of Home Bargains it said: “Many of these job opportunities will be available to local people. Job opportunities within the store will be across a range of scales. In addition to jobs within the store itself, other employment opportunities will be created.

“These would include jobs created by the store fit out and merchandising the store, and jobs involved within the future maintenance and security of retail units; cleaners; security guards; etc.”

The site is part of the company’s plans to further expand their 575+ national store network.

    • Someone died , maybe the word will get back /around . This country not always a new good life.
Sad the person died but these things happen , yeah even to locals is everyone in the paper ?.

Oh Steve , houses will be built for when they are returned.

  1. I think its very good for the area.
A few may even wander to the town or what’s left of it , I not been back to the town since I was robbed of 80p by TDC , only needed to pop in bank 10 mins.

  2. Personally I am delighred a new shop is coming to Ramsgate, I don’t use WWX and if I had my way it would be bulldozed and houses built there. and people from there would have a choice of Broadstairs, Margate, or Ramsgate.
I use Ramsgste regularly and there were no rough sleepers around the town today.
