Three men have been arrested following a police chase in Ramsgate during the early hours of this morning (September 17).

The pursuit began in Grange Road when a vehicle, understood to be a white van, was not stopped despite officers requesting the driver to pull over.

A chase ensued with the van which involved multiple police vehicles and a police helicopter. The van was then abandoned in Harbour Parade and three men ran off.

Witnesses said there were up to nine police cars plus two vans and 4x4s stationed from the Granville down to the turning circle by the Royal Sands development.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.45am on Saturday 17 September, a vehicle failed to stop for police when requested to do so in Grange Road, Ramsgate.

“The vehicle was pursued before being abandoned by its occupants in Harbour Parade.

“Following a search, which was assisted by a police helicopter, three men, who are all in their 30s and from the Portsmouth area, were arrested on suspicion of theft and driving offences.

“They remain in custody and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

    • Well imagine how bad Portsmouth must be if there criminals have to find other areas to operate in as they are so overrun with crime!

Lock the door, close the curtains and never go out again Real World!

    • What a ridiculous comment. How do you know whether or not the perpetrators are residents of Ramsgate?
Don’t let that question ruin your narrative though, eh?

      • Because the article states those arrested are all from the portsmouth area? Not that i’d want to suggest you’d not bothered reading it before commenting.

  1. since you walk arouund with your eyes shut , have you read the post that came after this one about newington road today ? no – i suppose that didnt happen either

  2. I have read it. I notice there isn’t an article saying how many thousands of Ramsgate residents didn’t commit ant crimes at all yesterday. That’s because, usually, good news is no news as far as journalists are concerned.

  3. The majority of news items on this site are Good News ones.

I lived for some time in a sleepy village where ‘nothing ever happened’. News about village fetes etc. was usually very samey. Though some vile individual did torture their dog to death, that hit the news. And then, to our dismay, the nearest co-op was robbed at gunpoint. Crime really is everywhere and of course it’s concerning for residents.
