Three men have been arrested following a police chase in Ramsgate during the early hours of this morning (September 17).

The pursuit began in Grange Road when a vehicle, understood to be a white van, was not stopped despite officers requesting the driver to pull over.

A chase ensued with the van which involved multiple police vehicles and a police helicopter. The van was then abandoned in Harbour Parade and three men ran off.

Witnesses said there were up to nine police cars plus two vans and 4x4s stationed from the Granville down to the turning circle by the Royal Sands development.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.45am on Saturday 17 September, a vehicle failed to stop for police when requested to do so in Grange Road, Ramsgate.

“The vehicle was pursued before being abandoned by its occupants in Harbour Parade.

“Following a search, which was assisted by a police helicopter, three men, who are all in their 30s and from the Portsmouth area, were arrested on suspicion of theft and driving offences.

“They remain in custody and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
