Son’s appeal to find mum after disturbance incident in Margate

Kier is concerned for the welfare of his mum Rebecca

UPDATE: September 18, Rebecca has been found safe and well

A son is appealing for sightings of his mum following an incident in Margate on Tuesday (September 13).

Kier Kelly-Morrow, from Margate, says he is worried about mum Rebecca’s welfare who has not been in contact since a disturbance at his grandad’s home in Trinity Square on Tuesday.

Police were called after a man damaged a door and window and assaulted Kier’s grandad. Officers were told a woman – understood to be Rebecca – was also at the property but there are conflicting reports about whether she left the scene voluntarily or not.

Kier, 26, says he is unsure of the circumstances but has not seen his mum since that night and is growing increasing concerned.

The pharmacy worker said: “I am concerned as there has been nothing other than a few unsure sightings since. Her phone got broke a couple of months ago but she normally meets me outside my work and walks back with me to where I am staying, two or three times a week.

“I am unsure what happened but am concerned.”

Rebecca is currently homeless and generally stays with friends in the Margate area. Kier says she is around 5ft tall with shoulder length brown hair, olive/pale skin tone, brown eyes and usually seen wearing a pair of skinny jeans, some form of grey running shoe and a dark coloured jumper.

He says the man who left his grandad’s home with his mum has light brown hair cropped at the sides and balding on top.

He added: “There have been three possible sightings of her along Edgar Road in the cafe at the top of the street and two sightings in Margate. It is possible she has found safety with a friend known as Gary but that is unconfirmed.”

It is understood reports to Kent Police do not state Rebecca left under duress although, due to concerns raised, officers are checking her welfare.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a disturbance at a property in Trinity Square, Margate at 11.22pm on Tuesday 13 September.

“Officers attended and it was reported that a man and woman had attended the property before the man damaged a window and a door and assaulted the occupant. The man and the woman then left the scene.”
