Travellers in Italy restaurant in Ramsgate is celebrating its first birthday by hosting a Prosecco, Pasta and Puccini night.

Travellers in Italy opened last Summer in the former Nat West/Pizza Express building. The property is Grade II listed and dates back to circa 1893.

The venue, which can cater for around 70 customers, is one of the additions to James’s portfolio, joining the Royal Harbour Hotel, the intimate 30-cover Empire Room in Nelson Crescent and the Little Ships restaurant just a few steps away on the harbour front.

Mediterranean warmth inside Travellers in Italy

The former bank manager’s office is now a private function area while downstairs four bank safes and  the original steel doors remain.

The kitchen is open so diners can see the food being prepared.

Opera D’Amici Singers will entertain on Wednesday, September 14 while diners enjoy a Mediterranean themed three-course meal from head chef Craig Mather.

The music selection will be well-loved opera classics and show tunes.

Restaurant owner James Thomas said: “Our customers loved the last two Opera D’Amici performances, as did our team; we couldn’t wait to invite them back again.”

The event starts at 6.45pm. Cost is £56pp.
