Detectives are investigating after a teenager suffered injuries to his face during a disturbance in Margate.

Despite a noticeable police presence in the town yesterday (June 3) officers were called at 7.35pm to Marine Terrace following reports that two groups of people had become involved in a disturbance.

A 17-year-old boy was assaulted and received the injury to his face.  He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

An 18-year-old man from London was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assault to get in touch.

Witnesses can call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/95226/21.  You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555111 or using the anonymous online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org.

  1. surely not in this vibrant seaside town with all its art and culture – wise up – this area is like the wild west ! we only need an attack in ramsgate and we have scored a hat trick of violence this week.

  2. Second stabbing in Margate in two days around same seafront area.
Looks like drug gangs and County Lines have infiltrated Margate with the amount of young people being at risk of serious assaults. Kent Police need to take this as a warning of things to come. The odd burst of police activity is not going to put a halt to it. People are scared to go out because of these morons carrying machetes and long knives.

  3. There has been one in Broadstairs and two in Margate – so we have achieved the hat trick this week.

The incidents in Margate have been little short of a running battle on the seafront between rival groups of youths. On Thursday, the chavs were actually running off the beach to try to join in the melee – that is the mentality !

On Wednesday afternoon there were 5 security guards and 15 (yes fifteen) police and PCSOs on Margate beach and seafront to keep order – but of course no presence in the evenings to stop these incidents from happening.

The beach does not close at 6pm just because the beach inspector and the lifeguards go home and the deck chair vendor shuts shop . . .
