Ramsgate man remanded in custody accused of assaulting two police officers

A man has been remanded in custody on charges of assaulting two Kent Police officers in Ramsgate.

Marshall Mitchell is reported to have assaulted the police constables after they stopped him for a routine search near the junction of Princes Road and Margate Road at around 5.15am on Sunday (January 5).

Both officers suffered leg injuries which needed treatment at a local hospital. Two knives are also reported to have been found inside a bag Mr Mitchell was carrying.

The 29-year-old, of North Avenue, Ramsgate, has since been charged with actual bodily harm, assaulting an emergency services worker and two counts of possessing a knife in a public place.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 6, where he admitted each offence. At the hearing he was further remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be determined.
