Invite to be a part of The Margate Manifesto

Artist Jemma Channing wants your help to create The Margate Manifesto

As Turner Contemporary and Dreamland lead the town’s regeneration, Margate is changing. And artist Jemma Channing is asking people who live locally, ‘what do we want to happen next?’

The Margate Manifesto will be a declaration of intent for the future of the town and show the ways that residents want to make it a better place to live, work and have fun in.

People in Margate are being invited to join the artist behind the project, at a series of open workshops. The next one is on Saturday, September 28 at 1pm, at Margate Library.

There will be creative activities for children and opportunities for people to share their views. There’s also an online submission link where people who can’t make it to the workshops can contribute their thoughts.

All the responses will be collected together and used to create The Margate Manifesto, which will be performed around town on October 12 before being presented to local councillors and politicians.

There is a also an exhibition showing how the manifesto was made at 101 Social Club, 101 Northdown Road, Margate on  October 12-13.

The Margate Manifesto takes place as part of Margate Now, the programme running alongside the Turner Prize at Turner Contemporary.
