Call to take part in Ramsgate carnival

Ramsgate carnival organisers are looking for participants for this year’s event.

The carnival takes place on Sunday, July 28 with family fun on Government Acre from 10am to 6pm.

The floats will assemble on Royal Esplanade at the Westcliff ready to leave at 4pm and parade through the town.

Organiser Mick Pidduck said: “We are looking for carnival parade floats that fancy joining in the fun this year and are part of a dance school, stage school, performing arts, operatic societies, nurseries, playgroups, schools, sea cadets, army cadets, scouts and brownies, fitness groups, community groups, cosplay,military vehicles, sports clubs footie teams, pubs, clubs, cheerleaders and majorettes, marching bands, local bands, charities businesses and more!

“The carnival is free and easy to enter. As well as having funit  also gives you the chance to show the public what you do and to hand out flyers.”

The route is the same as last year, starting at Royal Esplanade and travelling through Paragon, Royal and Harbour Parade, Plains of Waterloo, King and Queen Streets, Westcliff Road, Grange Road and back to Royal Esplanade.

Prizes will be awarded in a number of categories including best dressed pedestrian grou, best youth group, best commercial float and more.
