Road in Broadstairs closed off while emergency crews deal with house fire

Part of Edge End Road is closed off

Part of a road in Broadstairs is currently closed off while fire crews deal with an incident.

A cordon is in place at Edge End Road, by the Upton Junior School area, as crews deal with a house roof fire.

Three pumps and the turntable are on the scene. All occupants of the property were out when the firefighters arrived at 6.57pm.

A fire service spokesperson said: “Using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets, crews entered the property to tackle the blaze. Firefighters are also using fog spike to effectively tackle the fire through the tiling.

“A height vehicle is also being used to allow crews an effective vantage point to tackle the fire from the outside. Good progress is being made. The cause of the fire isn’t known at this stage.”

8.53pm: Electricity in the street is being turned off so the property can be isolated.

9.28pm: Fire service stop time. The roof suffered extensive damage and was 25% destroyed by the blaze, two bedrooms suffered extensive water damage. The Red Cross Volunteers were also in attendance to offer the occupants welfare and emotional support.

  1. Praying that Jesus will comfort this family at this awful time. And that memories and photos may be saved. Also blessing the emergency staff that have attended.
