David Copperfield at Westwood closure confirmed

David Copperfield has been sold

The David Copperfield Harvester off Westwood is shutting from April 1.

The pub/restaurant, opposite Asda, has been sold although the buyer is yet to be revealed. Customers have been notified of the closure through a sign on the notice board at the venue.

It is hoped staff can be found employment at other Harvester sites.

The David Copperfield was handed a zero star food rating in 2017 but achieved five stars at its last inspection in February 2018.

A Harvester spokesperson said: “We continuously review our estate to ensure that we’re always obtaining the best returns from each of our assets, and driving innovation across our brands, to enable us to continue to deliver shareholder value.

“Following an approach, we have taken the decision to sell the David Copperfield Harvester. The team have been consulted and we hope to redeploy as many employees as possible to other sites we operate nearby.”

  1. This is a great shame, we live nearby and have often had good meals here, we may use the one at Herne Bay but it certainly won’t be as often. Let’s hope that another decent pub/restaurant chain takes it over.

  2. One of the least desirable places to eat in the area. Gave it a few chances but the food was always poor. Everywhere was tired and grubby and some of the gobshites who used to go there made it an unpleasant experience. The last time I went there was a woman eating her meal while on her phone to someone. She was shouting down the phone and spitting food everywhere. Not Harvesters fault but it always seems to attract the types.

  3. Such a shame! Had a wonderful Birthday meal with my twin sister and our Husbands just a couple of weeks ago. The service was great, happy, helpful staff. The food was superb, nicely served, attentive staff it is a long way to go to Herne Bay so will probably not bother with Harvester any more. Feel so very sorry for the staff!
