A motorcycle dealership that has been trading in Thanet for 45 years will close down this April.

Dave Fox Motorcycles in King Street was founded by Dave Fox and is run by daughter Denise and her husband Peter who are now planning to retire.

Dave was a successful side-car cross racer in the 1960s and 70s and was an international champion. His son Douglas was a national champion in the 1980s.

Dave began in business in 1973 in Westgate, selling Triumphs, Nortons and CZs. In 1976 the business moved to the King Street site and  became a Kawasaki dealer.

Dave  retired a number of years ago and the shop is run by Denise and her husband Peter.

In a statement on their facebook page it says: “We are sad to announce that after 45 years of trading Dave Fox Motorcycles are closing their doors. Pete and Denise have decided to retire and will be off riding their bikes with Dave.

“We will remain open until April 2019 and will carry on trading as usual until that time. We will remain a full KAWASAKI Dealer until closure with new and used bikes available. Sales, Workshop and MOT’S will continue until further notice.

“All clothing and helmets in stock will now be reduced by a minimum of 35 % off the retail price.  Please come in, have a chat and grab a bargain.
“Thank you to all of our customers and friends for your support from Dave, Peter and Denise.”

  1. Sorry to see you’re closing down, but there comes a time in all our lives to retire, that time came for me ten years ago and I’ve enjoyed every minute of my retirement I hope you do as well best of luck and good wishes.

  2. Teenage memories of walking pass your Westgate shop, & admiring all those lovely machines. Sadly, it turned I wouldn’t have made a good biker (poor balance). 45 years of service – well done.

  3. I walk past the shop on the way to work and have a look through the windows. Nice bikes and good looking shop.

Shame it’s closing, but you you need to do what’s best for you.

  4. Never got the accolade he should have for his International racing Bought a CZ trail bike from him way back then Good health and happiness to you and your family in your retirement
