Ramsgate Tandoori celebrates 30 years of business and community fundraising

Ramsgate Tandoori in Harbour Street is celebrating its 30^th anniversary on November 1-2.

Run by Raushan Ara and husband Reza, the restaurant first opened its doors in 1988 and has been a big supporter of many local causes.

Amongst the organisations and charities to receive help from the couple are the Thanet Winter Shelter, Stone Bay School, Rohingya people escaping Myanmar’s military crackdown and more.

Raushan is a familiar face at litter picks and community events.

This month the restaurant is hosting a charity lunch to raise funds for the Western Undercliff Regeneration Group. Members of the group had formed an organisation with the aim of taking over the Western Undercliff café and toilets for community use. Thanet council has since put the site up for auction but the group continues to work for improvements at the undercliff and has not given up the attempt to secure the site.

The charity lunch takes place on October 30 with a minimum contribution of £9.95. All proceeds will go to the undercliff group. There will also be a raffle and donations are welcome.

Anniversary celebrations on November 1-2 will include a special offer.

Raushan said: “We would like to give a huge thank you to all our loyal customers, we couldn’t have done it without you. We shall have two nights of live traditional music and a four-course menu with a special price of £19.95

“As part of our 30^th anniversary during National Curry Week, with every meal eaten in we are giving free popodoms and free taster side dish.”

The restaurant is also introducing a new Tandoori Sunday Roast alongside the Special Set Lunch; Early Bird Meal Deal; Vegan Menu and the popular Bangla Wrap.

The most popular dishes are: Tikka Mossala; Tandoori Mixed Grill; Rezala; Fish Bengal ;Sag Panaeer (vegan); Coconut Pilau;;Onion Bhaji;plus our Corriander and Cheese Naan cooked on a traditional Tandoori clay oven (Tandoor)

Raushan added: “We have served three generations of customers, celebrated with them for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and graduations. Ramsgate has been and will continue to be an important part of our lives. We welcome new customers and are sure you will become part of the family.”
