A look at the sheer variety of seaweeds around the Kent coast and their sometimes surprising uses in everyday life.

This exhibition has been created by Ian Tittley (Natural History Museum & Kent Field Club) with help from the Thanet Coast Project and NEKMPA Coastal Wardens.

Battle of the Buskers

August 2-30, Westwood Cross

Open Monday – Friday 9.30am-7.30pm, Saturday 9.30am-6.30pm and Sunday 10am-4pm

Live music will be a theme at the centre during summer with performances from buskers on selected dates throughout August.

At the end of the summer, the best of the buskers will be voted for by the Westwood Cross shoppers to see who will win the £500 gift card.

Arcade Classics

Ramsgate Micro Museum, Church Hill

Throughout August, celebrating the era of classic arcade games with versions on the museum games consoles.

For the summer holiday the museum will be open 1pm-4pm on every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Ramsgate Blitz Walk

7pm, meet at Ramsgate Library

Relive the dark days of the war in the heaviest bombed seaside town in the country. Hear the stories, visit the places.

The tour takes approximately 2 hours and is free with donations welcome.

Inflatable screen for three nights of outdoor cinema at the heart of the park.

After a hotly contested public vote, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet was selected as the winning film! The1996 take on Shakespeare’s classic, is reimagined and updated with the “star-crossed lovers” tragic tale moving to modern-day Verona Beach.

All ages are welcome to attend Film Club events, however, please note the BBFC rating for this film is 12A.

Paul Gadenne Artwork

August 2-8, Pie Factory Margate, 5 Broad Street, Margate

Paul Gadenne is showing recent artwork in watercolour, oil and acrylic at  Pie Factory Margate.

He has exhibited at galleries throughout the country including the RA Summer Exhibition and the Mall Galleries, London.  He has appeared on Sky Arts “Landscape Artist of the Year”

Paul’s work features a wide range of subjects but most tend to have an element of narrative and the everyday and can be seen at Art Society exhibitions and Open Art Shows throughout the year.

This exhibition will range from large commercial pieces down to small works to suit the smallest pocket.

Louie’s Helping Hands – It’s a Knock Out

The Knockout event will help Louie’s parents raise cash for the specialist school and therapy centre build

There will be a competition for the best fancy dressed team, Rentabar, raffles, food stalls, Glitter and face painting by Facemefabulous and lots more, Fundraising for The Llewellyn School and Nursery ‘Big Build Appeal’.
Teams should be ideally ten in size and mixed (this is only a guided suggestion) Younger participants can now join in but must be 1.4mtrs+

Paula explores the Turner Contemporary terrace

Paula the Polar Bear is part of Turner Contemporary’s summer exhibition Animals & Us .

Taking the show out of the gallery, Paula, a life-sized puppet, will wander through the town, sparking thought provoking conversations about climate change and how humans can co-exist with animals.

The Trojan Sound System crew will celebrate their 50th birthday with a gig at Dreamland’s outdoor Scenic Stage on Saturday (August 4).

The show will feature a line up of guests including Jerry Dammers of The Specials, Dawn Penn, and Jazzie B from Soul 2 Soul.

The performance is from 6.30pm until 11pm. Last entry 10pm.

The Trojan Sound System crew will celebrate their 50th birthday with a gig at Dreamland’s outdoor Scenic Stage on Saturday (August 4).

Identification sheet and equipment is provided and there is help on hand to identify your finds.

Wear suitable footwear for rocks & rockpools!  All events last for 2 hours and are suitable for ALL the family, but particularly 4-11s.

St Peter’s World War One Graves Tour

10am

Visit the WW1 graves and remember those who died during or as a result of the 1914-18 War. There are 37 people buried there, two of whom are unidentified seamen.

Like the other St. Peter’s Tours, these are guided walking tours around the attractive St Peter’s Churchyard, explaining the stories of those who are buried here.

Please wear comfortable shoes, as the tour involves walking across uneven ground, and also allow 90 minutes for the tour. Please note that there is some restricted access for visitors with disabilities.

Samba bands, floats, youth organisations, dancers and a host of weird and wonderful costumes will once again feature in Margate’s carnival parade.

Mahogany Creative Arts and the Great British Carnival will join local groups and organisations for the parade

Margate Carnival sets off from Palm Bay Avenue, travelling along the Esplanade past Bugsy’s Bowling, The Lido, The Winter Gardens and onto Fort Hill, past Margate Police Station and through The  Piazza and Margate Soul Festival, towards the train station and onto the Royal Esplanade, Westbrook.
