The first wave of artists performing at this year’s Margate Soul Festival have been announced.
The festival, from August 3-5, will welcome US band Atlantic Starr, Deneice Williams (pictured) and SoulHouse featuring Michelle John, Nathan Haines, Vanessa Freeman and Lifford on the Saturday.
Sunday headliners will be Fatback Band, The Brit Funk Association, Eddie Piller’s 30 Years of Acid Jazz and Children Of Zeus (pictured).
The event is spread over several venues and outside areas in Margate Old Town, Margate Harbour and Margate Winter Gardens.
This year Margate Winter Gardens will open on Friday and Sunday as part of the opening and closing parties.
Organisers Eli Thompson, of Olby’s Soul Café, and partners Mi-Soul Radio, say the event has had an 800% rise in attendance in just two years.
Big Green Coach will be running a day ticket and festival service, picking up from London and Brighton into the heart of the action.
