Broadstairs Town Shed will hold a Christmas open day next week with lots of handmade gifts on offer.
The Broadstairs Town Shed opened in June 2014, funded initially by the People’s Millions and Broadstairs Town Team. Originally based in Pierremont Park, the growing team is now at a larger industrial building on the Oakwood Industrial Estate in Dane Valley Road, St. Peter’s..
The project is a community group for older people aged 55 and over to meet, do DIY, carpentry, support community projects and learn and share skills. The team provides health and well-being messages, support, information and other learning activities, including cooking, computer classes and other crafts.
Town Shed administrator Debbie Meacham said: “ The shedders have been as busy as elves making exclusive, hand-made wooden items to sell to fund the project and enable us to purchase a much needed lift, for those with mobility issues to reach our ‘mess’ room and toilet facilities located on the upper floor.
“The project is going from strength to strength, but needs help from the community in turn, to ensure we can continue to grow our membership and flourish.
We’d like to invite everyone to come, see and hopefully buy some “of the very special wooden products that the shedders have made.”
Where and when
The Broadstairs Town Shed will be open, selling a range of handmade wooden items for Christmas from noon on December 13.
