Ellington Park May Fayre will be ‘bigger and better’ than ever

Ellington Park May Fayre

Events season in Ramsgate kicks off in style on Saturday, May 20, as the Friends of Ellington Park hold their popular May Fayre from noon-6pm.

Last year’s event attracted more than 7,000  visitors to the park – and this year’s promises to be the best yet with more stalls and attractions than ever.

“There will be something for everyone” said Friends’ chairperson Beverley Perkins.

Alongside the usual set of attractions – including a funfair, and steam train rides on the park’s unique model railway – a wide array of stalls will be selling bespoke jewellery, personalised wood crafts and reasonably-priced books.

There will also be artisan food and drink, with old favourites such as the sophisticated Red Bean Coffee Machine, Stylish Ice Cream and Warner Wines returning and a traditional beer tent provided by the Flying Horse Pub.

There will be high-calibre music playing on the Bandstand throughout the afternoon, with a line-up which will provide some of the best ever music performances ever seen in Ellington Park.

Acts include Big Steve and Jake Argyle, who make a welcome return to Ellington Park after thrilling the crowds at last year’s event, COCO, whose party tunes promise to create a fantastic atmosphere, and this year’s headliners, Celloman, fronted by cellist Ivan Hussey, who has worked with several distinguished artists including Take That, Annie Lennox, Duran Duran and Gabrielle.

The Fun Dog Show will also return to the May Fayre after a two-year absence.  This year’s show, which will include such categories as “Waggiest Tail”, “Best Rescue”, and “Biggest Smile”, will be organised by popular Thanet-based dog rescue charity, Angels 4 Dogs.

An open-top bus will ferry visitors free of charge from Ramsgate Harbour to Ellington Park.  Thanks to Ramsgate Town Council, which is supporting the event with Thanet council, Leopold Street Car Park will be free to park in.

Beverley said: “Come along and experience a relaxing afternoon of fun and entertainment. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible having a good time in Ellington Park come rain or shine.”
