Batman themed games at The Micro Museum
For the last long weekend of the Summer holidays – September 1-3, from 1pm-4pm on all days – the team at The Micro Museum in Ramsgate will be giving visitors the chance to enjoy playing Batman themed games on a selection of their classic games consoles.
Go to Gotham as the Caped Crusader to do battle with the evil geniuses who want to take over the city … and the world.
Mike and Carol Deer, the museum owners, are offering a discounted entry price of just £2 to all youngsters (14 years or younger) who go along dressed as Batman or any characters from the TV series or films.

Aardvarks to Zebras (and things in between) at Pie Factory, Margate

A themed anthology by a local artist inspired by the diversity of Africa. Using a mix of mediums and styles, this energetic exhibition captures some of the continent’s landscape, its people and wildlife amid a temperate musical backdrop.
David has lived in Thanet for 36 years and devotes much of his time to art and writing. His profession spanned forty years in the print & graphics industry and prior to retiring, as art teacher at a local SEN school. David never received supplementary art education but the work clearly demonstrates his flair.

Pilgrims Hospices 25th anniversary ball
Pilgrims Hospice, Thanet is celebrating 25 years of care at the Winter Gardens in Margate.
The evening will start with a three course meal, followed by a Michael Buble tribute and music up until midnight.
Karen Kenward, Community Fundraising Manager said: “It is important to celebrate our success and the many people we have cared for over 25 years. We really depend on our local community for everything we do, your support makes Pilgrims Hospices what it is today.

Bon Volks gallery celebrates two years of being open
12 Park Lane, Margate, 5pm-11pm
Join a night of celebration as Bon Volks congratulate themselves on being 2 years old!
They will be celebrating with an Open Studios to showcase all the member’s work.
In the Project Space there will be a show of Howard Dyke’s work, to celebrate his culmination of Residency #6 at Bon Volks. The residency studio will also be open, to have a nose at all his work in progress.
On the night there will be merchandise for sale.
Opened in August 2015, Bon Volks Studios is a new addition to the community of creative spaces in Margate.
The emphasis at Bon Volks is on fostering a strong group of artists and designers, who have a collective responsibility for the studios, making a space that positively impacts the local community. Each person joins as a member of Bon Volks and is given a small role in the maintenance of the building. All members are also encouraged to take an active role in shaping the future of Bon Volks and maintaining its ethos, publicly.
As well as the high quality studios and desk-spaces, Bon Volks also houses a project space, photography darkroom, sound studio and a workshop.
Last year the non-profit organisation launched its residency programme, aimed at providing space for visiting artists to develop particular projects, free of financial constraints and within the beautiful and inspiring Margate community.

Addington Street Revival Fair
Addington Street and surrounding roads, Ramsgate, 9am-5pm
Addington Street businesses including the Queen Charlotte, Falstaff Hotel and Vinyl Head Café will be joining in, with additional specialist food and drink for the fair.
Visitors will be able to experience different music at three main points along the street provided by local band Minus, the High Chaparrals from out of town and The Palace Magic Organ.
There will be numerous stalls selling everything from food, vintage, retro, bric-a-brac, handmade and hand crafted goods as well as second hand items.
Hairdresser Marcello will be offering cuts in return for donations to Oasis charity and there will be a maritime treasure hunt and craft/clothing tent for children to dress up and make things to wear, as well a pet display of ‘creepy crawlies’ from Pet Haven. Displays from belly dancers, line dancers and in yoga as well as vintage cars and bikes are also planned.
Ageless Thanet 50+ Festival
St George’s School, Broadstairs, 10am-4pm, free entry
Free taster sessions such as pottery, zumba, tai chi, belly dancing, and boccia to just name a few! There is also an opportunity to bring your smart phone, tablet, or laptop and talk to the experts about any problems you may be having using it.
New to this year will be a fantastic food court selling a variety of hot and cold refreshments, there will also be live entertainment throughout the day. There will also be a free raffle with lots of exciting prizes to be won.
Battle of the Bands, Dreamland Scenic Stage

Bands battle it out to be in with a chance of being crowned the inaugural BOTB winners, securing the grand prize of session time in a recording studio.

Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon
One of the most prestigious running events in the South east takes place in Thanet next month.
The Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon, sponsored by County Solicitors, has a 13 or 26 mile course through Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs and Westgate-on-Sea.
The race is organised by Thanet Roadrunners AC and will include a large number of serious athletes as well as charity runners.
The event starts at 9.30am on Sunday, September 3, beginning and finishing at Palm Bay School, Cliftonville.

Festival of Eid
Margate Community Mosque
Idul adha ( Eid) is a major festival in the Islamic calender. To mark the occasion, on Sunday, September 3 at 2pm, Margate Community Mosque will host a gathering which will be open to all members of the community. There will be a buffet to suit all tastes, vegan, vegetarian and meat eaters. Non-alcoholic refreshments will be available.
There will be an opportunity to find out about the festival and also answer any questions you may have about Islam.
